Mission

To support the development of new knowledge and innovative therapies across the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS), and to promote optimal healthcare for the residents of Arizona and beyond, the mission of CB2 must be multifaceted. Toward that goal, we will:

  • Support the larger UAHS research enterprise by providing cutting-edge informatics, data management, analytics, and biostatistics tools and services to UAHS researchers.
  • Develop and deliver both degree-granting and non-degree training and educational programs to empower UAHS researchers and trainees, and to nurture the next generation of innovators in Biomedical Informatics, Health Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Biostatistics.
  • Expand research at the U of A by recruiting leading researchers to UAHS, and by providing an academic nexus for informatics and biostatistical researchers across the U of A.
  • Engage with our clinical partners across Arizona, including Banner Health, Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, and Federally Qualified Health Centers in the region, to implement new and innovative digital solutions that improve health outcomes.
  • Partner with community and tribal groups to develop digital health solutions that are sustainable, culturally respectful, and clinically impactful.
  • Collaborate across the University of Arizona, across the state of Arizona, across the country, and throughout the world to advance informatics, AI, and biostatistical knowledge, and to bring innovative solutions to improve the health of all.

Vision

By executing on this mission, we will advance CB2 and the U of A toward our long-term vision,

To make the University of Arizona the leading institution for developing and applying the tools of Biomedical Informatics, AI, and Biostatistics to improve the health of historically marginalized groups, including those from Native American and Hispanic/Latino communities, and to advance these fields for the benefit of all.
