Vern Pilling
Vern Pilling retired from his role as Director of Biomedical Informatics Services (BIS) in June 2024. Prior to his retirement, he had over 27 years, began in 1992, of experience with computer programming, security, and data management. His work with BIS began in 2014 writing custom software and Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) systems in support of medical research within UAHS and its five colleges. He is experienced in research computing, data system architecture, and security. He has worked for companies large and small writing enterprise data driven software for mainframe, mid-range, and desktop computer systems. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS). Mr. Pilling provides his expertise with the management, security, database design, and ETL on a variety of research data projects including the NIH All of Us℠ research program and Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center. He is the CB2 Information Security Risk Manager and is also on the board of directors for the University of Arizona Biorepository.
