Manuel Snyder graduated from The University of Arizona, in 2003, with a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Molecular and Cellular Biology. In 2012, he received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from The University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK.
He has worked for The University of Arizona since 2003. For over ten years, he worked at The University of Arizona Cancer Center managing the biospecimen data for the Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Laboratory.
In his role as an Application Systems Analyst/Developer, he designed and implemented a biospecimen classification and barcode labeling system that was utilized by multiple biobanks and clinical trials within the UA Cancer Center. This system included collection event forms and biospecimen box logs, barcoded labels for the box logs and cryolabels for the biospecimen tubes.
In 2013, he became the Coordinator of Biorepository Informatics for the CPC Laboratory, wherein he designed and managed the data collection forms and labels, as well as the biobanking databases and applications for their clinical trials, particularly, the multi-institutional Selenium Prevention Trial. He also managed the Aperio slide scanning system, scanned clinical and hospital slides, and maintained the CPC Laboratory’s electronic slide bank for digital pathology review.
Since 2014, Manuel has worked for the Biomedical Informatics Services group, a part of the Center for Biomedical Informatics & Biostatistics, as a Senior Programmer. Currently, he is the administrator of OpenSpecimen, the web-based biospecimen inventory and tracking application used by The University of Arizona Health Sciences and The University of Arizona Cancer Center.
